NOTICE
Effective February 15, 2010 The Town of Scarborough will no longer accept credit card payments at the counter.
Debit cards will continue to be accepted. This action is due to reduced spending requirements resulting from reduced State funding and general slowing of revenues. Community Services will continue to accept ON-LINE CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE
February 8, 2010 Agenda
The Town Council established a Charter Review Committee on January 7, 2009. The Committee is in the process of reviewing the Town Charter. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Town Hall in Council Chambers A. The Committee encourages the public to attend the meeting. HORSE BEACH PERMITS NOW AVAILABLE!
2009-2010 Horse Beach Permit Form
Many changes have been made to the Horse Beach Permit rules and regulations so please read the Horse Beach Permit Ordinance before obtaining a permit and riding your horse on the beach.
NEW LAWS FOR OBTAINING A DRIVER'S LICENSE/STATE ID
Acceptable documents that
will be needed to obtain a Driver's License or State ID from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
TOWN ROAD NOTICES
One can go directly to the Department of Public Works page for all the latest road notices, updates, schedules, lists and maps.
65-AND OLDER PROPERTY TAX ASSISTANCE REFUNDS
Scarborough adopted a resident 65-and older Resident
Senior Property Tax Assistance Ordinance (pdf). The application
for the program must be filed with the Assessor by September
15th of each tax year. The application form is available. If you have any questions concerning this program,
and for more information, please call the Assessor's Office at 730-4060.
DOG LICENSES
Dog licenses are issued by the
Town Clerk's Office. Licenses are issued for one year, ending December
31st. To register your dog in the Clerk's Office you must provide
a current Maine Rabies Certificate and a spay/neuter certificate.
You can also register your dog(s) online by using the
State of Maine's Website [EXIT SITE]. Please note: the Clerk's Office does not receive the online report from the State until the beginning of the following month in which you registered your dog(s) at that time the dog licenses will be mailed out.
ONLINE VEHICLE REGISTRATION RENEWAL
Before you start processing your renewal, you will need:
- your current vehicle registration
- your vehicle's current mileage
- your current proof of insurance
- your checkbook, for method of payment (aba/routing number and
your account number)
The Town of Scarborough does accept credit cards for vehicles registered
through the State of Maine's Bureau of Motor Vehicles online Rapid
