UPDATE ON PRELIMINARY FEMA FLOOD HAZARD MAPS- NOVEMBER 2013
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has issued preliminary Flood Hazard maps for Cumberland County. The new Flood Hazard maps can be viewed by clicking here, or Town Hall or by visiting FEMA'S webpage.We have asked the Maine Floodplain Management Office and FEMA to schedule a public meeting in the near future for Cumberland County. The purpose of the meeting would be to review the mapping process, discuss disaster preparation, mitigation of risk, and map adoption schedules. Once a meeting is scheduled, notice will be sent via the Town's email notification system and be posted to the Town's website.

NOTICE: Holiday Trash Collection Schedule
CENTRAL MAINE POWER CO - TREE TRIMMING
Central Maine Power Co. currently has Lucas Tree Company trimming trees on a circuit in Scarborough. The work by Lucas Tree starts at the Dunstan substation on Route 1. The major roads involved are Route 1 and Blue Point Rd. The work will be completed within 2-3 weeks.
HORSE BEACH PERMITS
Horses are allowed to ride on the beach beginning October 15th through May 1st of every year. Horse Beach Permits are good for traveling in the tidal area from Pine Point Beach to Old Orchard Beach/Saco line. Horse Beach Permits are issued starting October 1st for the New Year and will be made available at that time. The fee for the permit is $20.00. Permits can be obtained from either the Scarborough Town Clerk's Office (207-730-4020) or the Old Orchard Beach Town Clerk's office (207-934-4042
CREDIT CARD SERVICES
The Town of Scarborough accepts the following credit cards for payment of service – MasterCard, Discover & Visa. A Service/Convenience Fee will apply to Cardholders who wish to pay via credit card. This fee will be disclosed to the Cardholder prior to the transaction being processed and the Cardholder will be given the option to choose another payment method (cash or check) to avoid this fee.

SCARBOROUGH'S PROPERTY TAX ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Due to recent changes enacted by the State Legislature, those Scarborough residents who are 62 or older; have received a State refund through the Circuit Breaker Program and have been a resident of the Town of Scarborough for at least ten years [immediately proceeding the date of application] your application for Scarborough's Property Tax Assistance Program must be submitted by close of business on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 [offices close at 6:30 p.m.]. Please return your completed application to the Town Clerk's Office.
Regretfully, applications received after July 31st cannot be accepted and approved for reimbursement.

MAINE RESIDENTS PROPERTY TAX AND RENT REFUND
The Maine Residents Property Tax and Rent Refund "Circuitbreaker" Program has been repealed as part of the enacted state budget for claims beginning on or after August 1, 2013. The Circuitbreaker program has been replaced by a refundable Property Tax Fairness Credit that can be claimed on the Maine Individual Income Tax Form.
The new credit will be available beginning in January, 2014
on the 2013 Maine Individual Income Tax Form 1040ME. A worksheet will be included with Form 1040ME to calculate the amount of credit. Also go to the state site http://www.maine.gov/revenue/taxrelief/tnr.htm for more information or call (207) 626-8475..

NEW WEBGIS ONLINE MAPPING APPLICATION
The Town of Scarborough is pleased to announce the release of its new online mapping application. The WebGIS is an interactive map that runs in a web browser and provides the public with geographic data that was not previously accessible to them. Some of the data that is available includes: road centerlines, property lot lines, zoning, utilities, floodplains, water features, contours, and much more.
