LOGOLogo for the Scarborough 350th Anniversary Committee
The 350th logo committee has been working for most of the past year on the project of creating a logo for the 350th Celebration... Our logo contest was not the success we were hoping for, so we contacted the art department at Scarborough High School and Joanne Allen's class took on the task of creating a logo, just as if they were a business and we were the clients. They were able to come up with varied and creative designs that were unique, yet incorporated the sensibility of the nature of the town of Scarborough. When we narrowed it down to two or three designs, we went back to the students and asked them to recreate one logo incorporating the elements of the different designs. The students reworked the logo, advising and helping each other in this endeavor, exhibiting support and constructive criticism.. If the students in Mrs. Allen's Class are an example of the students in Scarborough, then our future is in good hands. The members of our logo committee are Myra Fassett of the Scarborough Current, Russ Burleigh of Brown Fox Printing, Joe Tufts of Scarborough Signs, Bob Scammon retired art teacher from Scarborough School Department, myself and Carol Rancourt. Students involved in the design were Jordan Chase, who compiled the final class design, Christopher Clary, Noah Cohen, Thomas Hamill, Stephanie Jackson, James Mastrian, John Puiia, Alexandra Ronca, Holly Silva, Laura Weeks, Zachary Thomas, and Samantha Bergeron. Each student who participated will receive a certificate of commendation and a special remembrance.... We would like to also offer a special thanks to the members of our logo committee who spent a lot of time working on the design and to Joe Tufts who put the professional finishes on the logo and donated the special presentation that we have tonight.
