FRIENDS OF THE SCARBOROUGH 350TH COMMITTEE

Given current restrictions and qualifications for the Scarborough 350th Anniversary Committee, operating under the protection of the Town of Scarborough, Scarborough Maine, the Executive Committee recommended an independent contractor to be named, The Friends of Scarborough’s 350th Anniversary (herein referred to as "The Friends") will be formed for the sole purpose of acting as the official agent of Scarborough’s 350th Anniversary Steering Committee. As our Committee functions currently, we see no gaps in the management of these organizations.

STEERING COMMITTEE
In 2003, the Scarborough 350th Anniversary Steering Committee was designated by the Town Council as the local agency responsible for coordinating the community’s effort in the celebratory Scarborough observance. It was an appropriate selection, given the historical formation of a similar committee in 1958 whereby this community celebrated its 300th milestone.
The original committee was formed with fifteen (15) members, made up of local representatives with varying degrees of professional and community experience. Months later, the Steering Committee was expanded to 21 members whop provide additional expertise broader representation and other assistance. The Steering Committee, through its agent, and with the technical assistance of a dedicated municipal staff, directs all activities relating to the Scarborough 350th Anniversary Celebration and will contract with a professional event planner.
We wish to extend our deepest gratitude and thanks to all the members of the Steering Committee.

VOLUNTEER!
Volunteering for the Scarborough 350th Anniversary Committee can require as little or as much as you would like to provide. Although, the Steering Committee meets regularly (typically monthly) subcommittee work in areas of specialized interest meet less frequently or as needed. The Scarborough 350th Anniversary Committee (The Steering Committee) respects your privacy. Across our efforts we will only collect, store and use your personal information for the defined purposes for which it was collected. We use your information to support and enhance our relationship with you, for example, to process your contributions, provide any requested information and to share community news in support of the 350th celebration with you. We will not sell or share your personal information. At any time you may contact The Steering Committee with any privacy questions or concerns you may have. You also may ask at any time to see the personal data you have given us and request correction or deletion. We strive to protect the security of your personal data by use of appropriate measures and processes.
The Scarborough 350th Anniversary Committee only asks for specific types of personal information.
In a few areas on our Web site and online customer support tools, we ask you to provide information that will enable us to enhance your site visit, to assist you with purchase and technical support issues or to follow up with you after your visit. It is completely optional for you to participate.
For example, we request information from you when you:

The Scarborough 350th Anniversary Committee only uses your personal information for specific purposes
The information you provide will be kept confidential and used to support your customer relationship with The Steering Committee. Among other things, we want to help you quickly find information on www.scarborough350.org and alert you to any product upgrades, special contribution offers, updated information and other new products and events scheduled for the 350th Celebration. Committee members who have access to your personal information are required to keep the information confidential and not use it for any other purpose than to carry out the services they are performing for The Steering Committee.
In addition, should The Steering Committee be required to disclose personal information in connection with law enforcement, fraud prevention, regulation, and other legal action or if The Steering Committee reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to protect The Steering Committee, its members, or the public.
You can opt-out of the Scarborough 350th Anniversary Committee’s marketing list at any time
Periodically, we may send you information about our various products and upcoming events. Only The Steering Committee (or agents working on behalf of The Steering Committee and under confidentiality agreements) will send you these direct mailings. If you do not want to be included on The Scarborough 350th Anniversary marketing list, simply tell us when you give us your personal information. Or, at any time you can easily opt-out of our marketing list or update your information by contacting us.
The Scarborough 350th Anniversary Committee will not disclose your personal information to any outside organization for its use in marketing without your consent
Information regarding you (such as name, address and phone number) or your order and the products you purchase will not be given or sold to any outside organization for its use in marketing or solicitation without your consent. Your information may be shared with agents or contractors of the Steering Committee for the purpose of romoting, planning, and advertising events planned in conjunction with the Scarborough 350th Anniversary Committee.
Internet Commerce
The online store at Scarborough350.org is designed to give you options concerning the privacy of your credit card information, name, address, e-mail and any other information you provide us. Dell is committed to data security with respect to information collected on our site. We offer the industry standard security measures available through PayPal. If at any time you would like to make a CONTRIBUTION (all monies received are classified as gifts or contributions), but do not want to provide your credit card information online, you may contact a Committee member over the telephone. Simply call 207-883-4301 and ask for the Town Clerk’s Office. It is our practice to contact customers in the event of a potential problem with your contribution or gift or any normal business communication regarding your that contribution or gift.
Children's Privacy (Age 18 and Under)
The Scarborough 350th Anniversary Committee (the Steering Committee) and the Town of Scarborough (the Town) takes children's privacy seriously. The Steering Committee does not seek to collect personal information about children through its Web site. The Steering Committee requests that children under the age of 18 seek parental approval to communicate through our web site.
If we become aware that a person submitting personal information to us through any part of our Web site is a child, we delete the information as soon as we discover it and do not use it for any purpose, nor do we disclose it to any other third parties.
Since we do not seek to collect any personal information about children, and we delete any information collected inadvertently as soon as we discover that a child has submitted it, we typically retain no information about children that could be reviewed or deleted. If a parent requests review or deletion of information about their child before we have discovered and deleted the information, then we will of course honor that request.

Scarborough’s 350th Anniversary Committee’s Web site contains links to other Web sites that are not operated by The Steering Committee or the Town of Scarborough. The Steering Committee or the Town of Scarborough is not responsible for the privacy practices of the Web sites that it does not operate.
