Setup and Start Time
Date: Saturday, July 12th
Judging Float judging begins promptly at 8 AM.
Arrival Time: No later than 9 AM for those not being judged
Parade Start: 10 AM
Location: Directions will be mailed or emailed, several weeks before parade.
Distance: The parade is approximately 1.6 miles long
Finish: The parade finishes around NOON
Rules and Regulations
1. NOTHING may be thrown, tossed, passed or squirted out into the crowd. This includes promotional materials, candy, waterguns, water balloons, silly string, food, coupons, fliers, etc.
2. No fundraising is permitted.
3. Entries that are controversial, in nature, will not be accepted.
4. All float entries are subject to approval by the 350th Celebration Committee.

RULES
Scarborough 350th Celebration
Parade Entry Rules
Application Deadline: June 1, 2008
Floats
- All floats must be in keeping with the theme of the parade. (Linking the past to the present)
- All floats must be family oriented.
- Floats may have signage to enhance the theme or design of their float.
- Business, Non-Profit and School/Camp categories are allowed signage as follows:
- Signage that pertains to the theme of the parade, businesses,
non-profits and schools/camps may include signage that shows their name and website
or telephone number. This allowable signage may be no larger than 8 sq. ft. in size
on each side of the float.
- Business signage may not be carried as a banner, unless you have paid for
parade sponsorship. For sponsorship info please contact the Scarborough Committee.
- Neighborhood Floats may have signage stating what neighborhood they are from.
- Neighborhood floats are not restricted to neighborhoods in Scarborough.
- Whenever possible, please choose smaller trailers for floats in lieu of large flatbeds.
- Floats are restricted to one vehicle, or one vehicle pulling one trailer, unless
otherwise approved by the parade director.
- Any float with children participants must be carefully guarded by an adult;
interior seated position preferred for all children on the float.
- NOTHING may be thrown, tossed, or passed out to, or at, the crowd. This includes
promotional materials, candy, squirting water guns, water balloons, silly string, food,
etc. Any violation of this rule will result in the participant and their organization
being responsible for any damages and may be subject to being removed from the parade.
- No open fires or pyrotechnics on any part of a float.
- All float entries are subject to approval by the 350th Celebration Committee
upon receipt of the parade application.
Contest Winners
- All contest winners will participate by invitation only. We will consider
requests from contest winners, upon receipt of a full description of the contest won.
- Vehicles used by contestant winners may have signage of donating car dealership.
Signage of car dealership may be no larger than 2 sq ft. in size on each side of the car.
Marching Units/Drill Teams/ Bands
- Marching Units, Drill Teams and Marching Bands may carry a banner with their unit
or organization name on it, during the parade.
- Bands on vehicles may have signage on the vehicle with the band name on it.
ALL UNITS
- All units must submit an application and “Hold Harmless” agreement by the
parade application deadline.
- NOTHING may be thrown, tossed, passed out to, or at, the crowd. This includes
promotional materials, coupons, candy, squirting water guns, water balloons,
silly string, food, etc. Any violation of this rule will result in the participant
and their organization being responsible for damages and may result in removal from parade.
- No fundraising is permitted.
- Entries that are controversial in nature will not be accepted.
- No horns, sirens, or other loud artificial noisemakers are allowed.
- All parade entries are subject to approval by the 350th Celebration Committee.
