Current Apparatus
Engine 4
In 1938 the Pine Point Volunteer Fire Company was the first company in Scarborough to receive a custom pumping apparatus. It was a 1938 Maxim with a 500 gpm pump, mounted on a Ford Model T chassis. That model T served the community of Pine Point until 1963 when the Town of Scarborough purchased a 1963 Maxim on a commercial Ford chassis.
Our current pumper was purchased in 1981. It is a custom built American LaFrance with a Detroit Diesel, and an Allison automatic transmission. It has a 1,000 gpm pump, a deck gun, and carries 1,800 feet of 4" hose.
Tank 4
In 1985 we added a new tank truck to our station. It is a Ford, 1-Ton, 4X4 chassis with a skid tank and pump. This versatile truck also carries a large generator and numerous scene lights. It responds to all structure fires, Town-wide, at night to assist with lighting. It is also equipped with a duplicate set of our rescue equipment so that it can cover EMS calls in our district if Engine 4 is tied up at another incident.
Previous Apparatus
Squad 4
In 1976 the company became home to a Civil Defense panel van that we called Squad 4. It was set up as a light rescue vehicle with a winch, generator, lights, and hand extrication tools. We ran this vehicle for a number of years until it got too tired and the first Tank 4 arrived. During a mega concert featuring 3 rock bands at Scarborough Downs in the late 70's it was even used as a paddy wagon to haul patrons of the "Blue Oyster Cult" concert who had partied in excess to the rock & roll.
Old Tank 4
In 1981 the Town acquired another surplus vehicle through Civil Defense. This unit was an old army 4X4 with a tank and pump. This replaced Squad 4, and was our first true brush truck. It responded to many woods and grass fires before being retired in 1985 when we purchased the Ford that we use currently.
