Fire Prevention

The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for keeping the citizens and visitors of Scarborough safe from fire, accidental injuries, and other hazards. This group ensures that the town’s fire sprinkler ordinance and life safety codes are adhered to, by reviewing construction plans and performing regularly scheduled life safety and certificate of occupancy inspections.

The Fire Prevention Division is also responsible for public fire safety education about smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and a variety of other subjects. We also offer educational programs for Scarborough’s school children, pre-schools, and day care clients as well as a fall and accident prevention program for our senior citizens.
