Scarborough Fire Department has 3 Type III Ambulances from P.L.Custom Inc. All three Rescues are equipped to the Advanced Life Support level. All EMS Personnel are cross trained in Firefighting as well as Emergency Medical Services.

Scarborough Fire Department employs 8 full time Paramedic/Firefighters and 2 full time Paramedic Lieutenants. Each Paramedic is a Maine licensed Paramedic and is trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Prehospital Trauma Life Support and a wide variety of other Fire and EMS training.

Rescue 1 is stationed at Oakhill Fire Station. It is staffed with a full time Paramedic/Firefighter and a Per Diem EMT/Firefighter 24 hour a day 7 day’s a week. Rescue 1 responded to 1555 emergency calls for the physical year 2004-2005.

Rescue 2 is stationed at Dunstan Fire Station. It is staffed with a full time Paramedic/Firefighter and a Per Diem EMT/Firefighter 24 hour a day 7 day’s a week. Rescue 2 responded to 937 emergency calls for the physical year 2004-2005.

Rescue 3 is stationed at Dunstan Fire Station. It is a Call Company / reserve unit. Rescue 3 is staffed by the on-duty Paramedic Leiutenant and the Rescue Call Company when both Rescues’ are on calls. Rescue 3 is also staffed for special events and is used to replace Rescue 1 or 2 should they need service.
