Robert Moulton, Police ChiefWELCOME TO THE SCARBOROUGH POLICE DEPARTMENT

On behalf of the men and women of the Scarborough Police Department, I would like to welcome you to our web site. Whether you are looking for information about our programs, hiring practices, or just general information, we hope you will find the site informative and easy to use.

I am proud to say that I was born and raised in Scarborough, graduated from school here and have served the Scarborough Police Department for over 30 years now. I have seen our town grow from a small community of farming and fishing villages to a true destination for shopping and recreation, and a pleasant home to nearly 20,000 residents.

Although admittedly biased, I think Scarborough is a wonderful community. We are close to Maine’s largest city and yet still enjoy a small town feel. We have some of the finest beaches and ocean views in the area and yet still have a number of working farms and open green space. These natural resources, combined with a great mix of residential and commercial areas make Scarborough a great place to live, work, and visit. We have it all !

I am also very proud of the men and women who protect and serve our citizens as members of the Scarborough Police Department. We are dedicated to providing a safe and secure town for our families, neighbors, and friends, as well as those who come to visit. Your police department is a full service, public safety organization. Our highly trained and motivated officers, dispatchers, and staff employ the latest innovations and technologies to provide the citizens of Scarborough with law enforcement service that is second to none.

I hope that you will take a few minutes to see what the Scarborough Police Department has to offer you. As always, should you have questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

They then do the follow-up investigation which includes but is not limited to interviewing witnesses, victims, and possible suspects. They are trained to use several valuable tools to assist their investigation which include search warrants, evidence collection , interviewing techniques and surveillance equipment. The ultimate goal is the apprehension and prosecution of criminals as well as the recovery of stolen property.
