Educational Tip of the Month

DIAL 9-1-1 for all Scarborough exchanges beginning with 883 or 885.

DIAL 883-5116 for all other Scarborough exchanges.

1. TELL the dispatcher about what happened. Be calm and speak slowly.

      Explain the type of emergency.
      Give your name and the phone number of the telephone you are using.
      Give the exact address of the emergency.

    2. You'll have to answer questions like:

      Is anyone hurt?
      How many victims?
      Are they breathing?
      Is the injured person conscious?
      Can the injured person talk?
      Can they move?
      If there a fire?

    3. LISTEN to the instructions the dispatcher gives you.

    4. Don't hang up until the dispatcher tells you to. Don’t' leave the scene of the emergency until help arrives.
